Everything about these things literally hurt

When I received these things they immediately became a problem. They were too small/cozy. The neckband was too tight. They were constantly trying to twist and wrap back into a spiral when I tried to stretch/stretch them and put them on my ears or just hang them around my neck. I was always afraid that they would curl up and fall on the ground while I was driving or something and I wouldn't realize it and then I would lose them. The compact form factor also meant that the controls had to be "more economical". The same two buttons were used to control volume and search, which was confusing and even annoying at times. Many times I wanted to turn the volume up or down, but I held the button down for too long and instead skipped a track. Conversely, when I wanted to skip a track, I sometimes didn't hold the button long enough and instead turned up the volume in my ears. Sound quality was decent enough, but not great. Also what for me should have been the main selling point; The dedicated digital assistant button, which was even separate from the multifunction button (a welcome rarity for headsets like this), proved to be fairly sluggish and mostly unresponsive junk that I rarely used. The charging cable is also embarrassing. It uses a connector so similar to a Micro-USB that it could very easily be mistaken for one, except it has a tiny notch down the middle that ensures you can't use the cable with other devices, and You can't just use any other micro USB cable to charge your headphones. ONLY *this* cable should be connected to *this* port. There's nothing special or special about the cable, the connector, or even the device itself as a whole that warrants or even remotely necessitates it. This is a pair of headphones for less than $30. It's like it's just hard for no reason. Today, I think, was the final straw as I struggled again to get them out of their perpetually twisted state to fit my head. I felt something twist and break at the clip-on connection just above the right speaker. Now when I try to put them on, the right speaker doesn't sit properly in my ear. Instead, he's now facing outward at a strange, lazy angle. The speakers themselves still work no matter what as I can't properly wear them on my head now unless I maybe use a piece of tape to secure them to my ears or something. Unless you have a rodent or small bird head, I really wouldn't bother with them.

Cons
  • Big and bulky
