I bought this adapter a few months ago as a spare and hardly used it until this week where I've been using it almost every day. This adapter sat unplugged and untouched in my master bedroom for almost 6 months up to this week. When I first started using it this week, I noticed that the AC adapter got quite warm compared to my factory MSI adapter that came with the laptop. Today during a gaming session I received a notification that my laptop was disconnected from the network. While gaming, I frantically grabbed the power cord to make sure it was still plugged in and found it was. Then I tried lifting the transformer part of the adapter and found that it was so hot I couldn't hold it comfortably. I made sure the power cord was plugged into the transformer but I suspect it got so hot it overheated. Maybe this adapter I bought was defective from the start, but maybe it's just a bad quality fake of the original. Based on some other reviews I've read I'm guessing it's the latter.
