Of the three Tunable White BR30s I bought three months ago, one is already dead. (That's a very, very short lifespan for an LED bulb!) There was one before that couple of downsides that bothered me a lot: - Apparently you can only set the default color temperature if you have a Sylvania hub. . I don't have a Sylvania hub; I use SmartThings. On SmartThings, I'm stuck with 2700,000 lights (on first power up); we wanted something closer to 6500k. I don't really want to buy a new, specialized hub for flashing settings once. (This is the absolute preferred thing, but I think there must be another way to do this; no need to buy a one-off hub if they advertise compatibility with another hub!) - Pairing mode is too easy to get started . I have a toddler and she has been able to put the bulbs back into pairing mode (which disconnects them from our hub) multiple times now. Pairing GE Link bulbs was an absolute pain, but we've never triggered an accidental pairing with multiple on/off buttons like we do with Sylvania bulbs. being on par with GE Link and Sengled) - SmartThings routines that trigger changes in brightness and color temperature sometimes just do one or the other. Two of the three lightbulbs still work, but we don't really use them as smart, customizable lightbulbs. due to the shortcomings listed above.
