Review on ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Synco Authorized Shotgun Microphone - SYNCO Mic D2 Hyper Cardioid Directional Condenser Mic with XLR Connector, Professional Video and Audio Recording for Camcorders, Boom Poles, and Tripods by Jeff Westra

Efficient shotgun mic

In our tests, the mic proved to be a very effective solution. It's able to lock onto a specific target well while still suppressing noise emanating from your position. It runs on phantom power, so you'll need a power supply, but it's fine for mobile with most mobile amps in your camera (or mixer/panel if you're shooting indoors with a static position). The included case is excellent and provides ample protection for the mics when travelling. This is an expensive mic for what it is. We had to apply a DeNoise filter to the audio after processing, which forced us to also play with the EQ/fader a bit to balance the sound to how we liked it. There seems to be a good hiss coming out of the mic that needs to be stepped on. We don't like the microphone clip either. The main threads are cheap plastic. Just throw it away! Keep the adapter as it's metal and will come in handy for collection, but use a mic clip from another gun mic with metal threads that will last (or buy a better clip). There's no point in carrying around a clamp that will break fairly quickly as he hops from stand to stand (or pole to pole). Aside from a few hiccups on the road, it seems to be heading in the right direction. We've worked with other mics in this range that offer a bit more flexibility, but despite that it's at least fairly stable for its category. This seems like a solid solution and we look forward to working with it in the near future. We'll be sure to add more if we think of anything. Update: We decided to adjust the rating to 5 stars because the amount of post processing required to get the right sound was typical, if not better, of all of the gun mics we've used. as their number. Our expectations are a bit high as we're trying to recreate the quiet surround sound typically achieved with expensive microphones or lavalier mics. With that in mind, the fact that we can handle it, or get incredibly close to it in post-processing, shows that this mic does pretty well for its price range. Think of it like a fixed lens on a camera versus a zoom lens. Of course, it doesn't offer zoom lens options, but it does work better in the area it specializes in. ** If you found our review helpful, please upvote it below so I know.
