Compression doesn't work if they won't stay up

I first ordered a three pair packaqe at the end of April 2021. I really liked the feel of the fabric, which is like fine hosiery--silky smooth. This is very important because most of the compression socks I had before were fuzzy yarn that was hot and made my legs itch. I ordered size large, because that seemed as close as I could get based on my leg measurements and shoe size. The foot fit nicely, with the heel in place I still had plenty of room at the toe.The leg part seemed a little short to me, but would be adequate IF the socks would stay in place. The first few times I wore them, they did stay up. Meanwhile I ordered some from another company because I thought they would be longer, but the company sent me the wrong size TWICE, plus their socks had a design woven in that made an imprint on my skin. I had to get a refund on those, and decided to come back and order more of these Newzill socks because they were running a special sale. I ordered six more pair in a different color design, hoping maybe they would be a little longer, but they weren't. Still they would be okay if they would just stay up. Unfortunately, after only a few wearings, and delicate washing with no-heat drying, they are NOT staying up, which defeats the purpose of wearing compression socks. I end the day with my legs swollen to a muffin-top mid-calf, much like what happened when I wore ordinary crew socks. I hope somebody who has found socks that stay up will see this and tell me where to find them. Compression socks are too expensive to not be able to wear them for the intended purpose. I think it might help if they were a little longer, and could reach all the way to my knee. Maybe that would allow the elastic to get a better grip on my leg above the largest part of my calf. I have always had very large calf muscles, from running too much, even when I was a skinny little kid. Now, at 63, when my legs swell they look enormous. Maybe these socks are meant mainly for athletes with slim legs and no significant swelling. Sadly, I am no longer one of those. But that's why I didn't give them a worse rating--I figure maybe I am just not the intended user, and the socks might last better on someone who doesn't have a real swelling problem.

Pros
  • Like the colors .
Cons
  • The socks may be difficult to clean and maintain
