As good as new

I have a vinyl version of this CD and loved it so much when it was new I would have worn it out if I hadn't put it on cassette sooner. Therefore my LP is in excellent condition. When I finally found the CD of it, it was only available as a Japanese import and I paid almost $30 for it, and I paid that for PHANTASMAGORIA (I still have three Curved Air vinyls in my permanent collection). I'm happy to spend money on something this good when expensive imports are all I can get. Music? Well the comments above should tell you how awesome I think this is. This is one of the greatest psychedelic albums of all time along with AIR CONDITIONING and PHANTASMAGORIA. None of Curved Air's other albums are as great as these three albums, the best of which is SECOND ALBUM by far (although I've noticed others disagree). "Piece Of Mind", the last track of over twelve minutes, is a marvel, as are "Jumbo" and "Puppets". These songs remind me of Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, Yes, Jean Michel Jarre and Mike Oldfield combined with touches of It's A Beautiful Day and Zephyr. In other words, it's a sound wall full of influences and quite original at the same time. Swirling electronics, ethereal vocals, pounding rhythms and constant, unexpected twists and turns make this a cosmic, captivating catchy tune. It sounds as fresh to me today as it did when it was new. If synths aren't your thing then this CD probably won't change you, but if you like really intense, eclectic mixes of sounds and experimental yet melodic music, this might be your bag.
