Works well - holds the phone securely in case of bumps. I have a MagSafe case that helps. I don't think this will work if you're using a case that isn't a true MagSafe. Not sure why it's $50 but I think it's worth it. Upgrade to 2 stars in a week if using this on a car trip: both the dash mount and windshield mount are beginning to fail (become very loose when the mount wobbles uncontrollably on freeways). The dash mount decal was peeling off my dash (yes, I cleaned the dash well) and the windshield mount option isn't as tight as it was a week ago (the suction cup seems to be detaching from the mount itself) and is very loose now. Definitely bring it back. It was great for a few days but not a durable product for a week long trip.
