There's no reason your scratching post should look like a school toy. Cat trees usually have a limited lifespan. Carpeted scratching posts at pet stores last 1-2 years at most, and usually after 2 years they start to look really bad. This tree is beautiful because most of the poles are wrapped in sisal and can withstand endless bullying. Platforms have wonderful covers that can be removed and washed. This was a compelling feature for us. We have two black cats and we needed a way to deal with all of this hair loss. This product was also well packaged. The large wooden platforms had covers at the corners to prevent damage in transit. I don't understand why other companies don't do this. It's so easy and our new tree looks amazing.
