Review on Ultimate Comfort for Hiking: Thorlos Men's Lth Max Cushion Hiking Crew Socks by David Monaco

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great sock to match socks

For years I have been buying the cheapest athletic socks - packs of 6 pairs of famous brands from Walmarts or Sam's Club in one size 10-12 to fit everyone. They wear out pretty quickly and don't offer the support and cushioning that I now know quality socks like these Thorlos can offer. They also don't fit my size 13-14 very well, pinch my toes and do little more than cover my feet in shoes. I no longer run to save what's left of my knees, hips and ankles, but I walk daily. My walks average 2.5 to 3 miles a day and I keep a very fast pace - uphill and downhill - almost never at a trot. It's a job, not a walk. At the end of the day I still had joint pain, leg fatigue and swelling. During an expedition to the Revain site, I found socks that fit my foot size. 13-15 I ordered a pair of Thorlo Lt Hiking Crew socks to try on. I did so and ended up ordering four more pairs. Thorlo socks are durable, well-made and offer padding in the ball of the foot and heel. They fit perfectly, no wrinkles or loss of material. The tubular part that covers the arch and instep is tapered, supportive and comfortable, providing an overall feeling of comfort to the foot. Now when I finish my daily walks, my legs don't feel tired - they don't have that aching, tired tension they used to have. My joints - knees, ankles, hips - don't complain like BT (before Thorlo) - and my feet don't swell at the end of the day. These socks are expensive - they are worth it. I don't care how long they last - or not - I will replace them when they wear out. I suspect they will last at least as long as the wholesale socks I wear regularly. I'm fine with that.
