I used this product to build a bass sensitive LED clock. Now my beats create amazing light shows! This Adafruit product provides basic information on how to use and implement it in an Arduino project. this makes it easier to get started. It can be used to determine the amplitudes of various frequencies using the Arduino FFT library (although in my testing it seems that higher frequencies show a lot of noise). You can also just use the device to record the "volume" of the sound and it can be used as a kind of human presence sensor since humans tend to make a lot of noise. I actually bought a second one for a Human Presence project where I will be using it along with a list of other sensors to determine if someone is in the room. Overall I am very happy with this product as it allows you to add microphone functionality to your project without having to design complex circuits or prepare software for it.
