Review on 6-Pack of NOW Solutions Coconut Toothpaste, 4 Ounce each by Chris Young

I've been using Crest toothpaste for as long as I can remember. I've tried other brands like Colgate, as well as natural brands like Tom's and recently a premium brand called Twice. When I learned about the health benefits of xylitol toothpaste, I decided to try NOW Solutions gel toothpaste. I brush my teeth with a Philips Sonicare toothbrush. The taste is subtle. After brushing my teeth with this paste, I didn't feel like I brushed my teeth at all. It's really creamy and doesn't contain sand like other toothpastes that use silica, baking soda or whatever is used to gently rub particles off your teeth. After brushing with this toothpaste, it will remove any film or physical debris that may be on the teeth. The problem I had with this toothpaste was the rapid build up of biofilm on my teeth. A few hours after brushing my teeth with this toothpaste, I feel a rough plaque when I run my tongue over my teeth. It feels like I haven't brushed my teeth in days. Bad feeling. When researching the cause of biofilm formation on teeth, I learned that biofilm is strongly associated with tooth decay and gum disease and that it thrives in a low pH environment. When I researched xylitol and pH, I found that xylitol increases pH. Based on this detail, this xylitol toothpaste should increase pH and not cause rapid biofilm build-up. I occasionally chew xylitol-based gum. Soon after, I no longer have any biofilm on my teeth. It's probably not xylitol, but something about this toothpaste encourages biofilm growth on my teeth. I'm not sure what's going on here, but the end result (for me) of using this toothpaste is that my teeth don't brush, my mouth doesn't feel "fresh" and my teeth biofilm on them after a few uses get hrs. All in all, an uncomfortable and ineffective experience.
