I used the clamp method to mount it on my desk. Everything was ready to go, so I turned on the monitor to set it up. As soon as I want to move it, the whole thing breaks and my expensive monitor almost falls over. If you look at the photo you can understand why. The entire mechanism experiences the greatest stress where the armrest touches the table. There it failed when it broke. I mentioned pressure because you can clearly see that the four spot welds that hold the piece of threaded pipe attached to the table top are important. I would never trust this mechanism to work now even if I use a different method. This requires drilling as this plate also looks the same, is a small section of threaded tubing on the larger plate and only has three spot welds (see other photo).
