Review on πŸͺ‘ Gray Solid Wood X Legs Bench Ottoman by Cortesi Home Kayla by Shannon Davis

Use it to play guitar!

I wanted a comfortable piano stool-like bench for practicing classical guitar. I've tried a few portable (folding) piano benches and they were both uncomfortable and too tall. This Cortesi X bench is 17.5 inches wide but mine is almost 18 inches from the floor to the highest part of the cushion. However, when I sit on it, the cushion compresses over an inch, making it the perfect height for playing guitar with both feet on the floor and the top of the leg level/parallel with the floor (a chair that's too high causes the guitar to slide down). !). Despite all that, this is a gorgeous bench made from solid hardwood (mahogany?) and finished in a semi-gloss walnut stain. But if you look closely, the quality of the wood is so-so: glue sticking out of the seams, worn surfaces, and most importantly, which is why I docked the star, uneven legs that sway slightly. The velvet fabric is excellent, the tailoring is clean, tidy and free of defects. Finally, assembly was easy and only took about 20 minutes, requiring 8 hex head screws to hold the legs and crossbars in place. The Allen key that came with it was too short. A longer handled wrench (I had one) makes tightening the bolts easier and avoids banging the joints. Overall a good bench: nice, comfortable and just the right height for playing the guitar. It feels like I'm sitting under a pillow in a tree. The decorative buttons, while looking nice, dig into my butt, so it's not a good design feature. I put a thin piece of memory foam on the pillow and I'm fine but what a disappointment. Not a bench for serious sitting.

Pros
  • Solid wood frame and legs
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
