First of all the quality/material/workmanship is good and as I expected (even if the handrails are NOT powder-coated as in the description but painted black) . The appearance of the bag is fully consistent with the photos. The fastening system leaves a lot to be desired. When properly installed, the support poles are in the pockets, significantly reducing hard/bulky items space. with soft things like clothes this is not a problem as you can stuff them around the bars. Following the instructions with the bars inside will get you flush with the fenders (with the correct washer and washer combination that comes with the kit). You can ignore the instructions and attach the bags to the outside of the rails, which will give you the full capacity of the bag space, but even without the spacers, this will move the bag a good 1"+ away from the fender. I tried both ways and the look of the bars was just wrong so I installed them flush with the bars inside and less room in the bag. As for the actual installation process, my advice is to take it slow and triple check your position and spacing before drilling.
