You will need it when stringing solar panels

This solar panel "extension" works very well when stringing in series and the distance to the end panels is 6 or 8 feet. It would be difficult to split an 8 foot wide cable, but it will bridge that distance. Just use one side (of this cable) to run positive (or negative) to the other end of the array. The connectors are easily separated - the latches are released.
