Review on πŸ‘• John Boyne Boys' Striped Pajamas for Boys' Clothing by John Young

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very sad last comment.

This book is about a boy named Bruno who is 9 years old and his journey/experience moving abroad. Bruno's father is a very important person because he runs one of the Jewish concentration camps. The Jews are very thin and covered in dirt, it looks like they are wearing striped pajamas. The reason they moved in the first place is because his dad's boss name is "Fury". Bruno wants to explore the fence but isn't allowed to, even though he wants to be an explorer later, so he does it anyway. . As Bruno walks along the fence, he sees a speck that gets closer and closer until it turns out to be a boy. This could be another boy Bruno will play with, his name is Shmuel. This book is disturbing and scary but told in such a happy tone. With Bruno, this friendship with Shmuel turns it into a story about two boys, but also about a concentration camp where Jews live. This story is told by a 9 year old boy named Bruno which gives the story a humanity and makes it unique. This book is just tense, terrifying, frightening and friendly at the same time.
