I still don't understand what modal is, but I won't spend much time searching the internet! Suffice it to say these are the softest, most comfortable sheets I have ever experienced. I don't know what most of the microfiber polyester sheets that are so common now are, but they irritate my skin in weird ways all night that I can't really explain. While I love how they feel when I go to bed for the first time, I will not be buying these microfiber sheets again and they are going in the trash at the moment. Unfortunately I have quite a lot of them. So before that, I just went back to Cotton. However, there is practically nothing I would rather use right now than these modal leaves. I'll mention a few cons just because I think it's worth knowing before you get them if you've never had anything like this before. But I'd like to start off by saying that these cons definitely won't stop me from buying more kits and planning to use them extensively! So I first noticed "rag pills" almost immediately in the areas where it gets the most abrasion, basically right where our bodies come into contact with the sheets. This is not uncommon, especially with artificial fabrics, and immediately scared me a little. However, it never got worse and I hardly notice it. The next feature of these sheets is that they are very elastic. I call them heavy and elastic. which I suspect will put some people off. Totally different from any other microfiber or cotton sheets I have ever used, they just look and feel different and will never have that unique, fresh nature that a set of quality cotton sheets has. While I love the look and feel of a quality, freshly laundered, tightly tucked cotton bedding set, I would never disagree with how it feels against my skin all night. So I'll say drive it and enjoy it. My wife loves them too, as do I, and she's also decided that she prefers the feel of cotton sheets over microfiber. We're both mod geeks now.
