Review on Halifax Winsome Storage Organizer, 5 Drawer, White by Vanessa Carstens

Revainrating 4 out of 5

MDF, but looks good in white.

Like: 1) fits my 26 inch trolley desk 2) looks good in white. I didn't like that the black still had white insides 3) All the holes matched. 4) The instruction is drawn and clear enough. A word of caution: remember to insert the backing before screwing the bottom in place. The charts don't show it very well. 5) The drawers slide out easily and have stops, but they can be taken out and put back in easily. 6) The back board is not cardboard nailed to the back like other furniture of this style use. It's a bit thicker (maybe cardboard) but it fits into a built in groove in the frame and even has 4 wedges that you screw in on the sides to prevent rattling. The drawer bottoms also fit the built-in grooves but not the wedges. In general, you don't have to worry about the buttons popping up while driving. I've had bookshelves where half the buttons on the back were lost due to a move and the back kept the pages intact. Without a back, they were trapezoids. The integrity of this device does not depend on the back being nailed. DON'T LIKE: 1) It's MDF and as such is much heavier than a comparable piece of wood or, for that matter, engineered wood. 2) The connections are simply butted. Drawers don't have dovetail joints, so they're weaker and most likely won't last long. But they're good enough for 10 years, at least depending on the abuse they endure. 3) Two or three screws came too close to the sides and the wood cracked a little. Joints are still fine. Without MDF this probably wouldn't have happened. 4) People need to make wheels that move better on carpets. Not everyone has hard floors. 5) A screwdriver is almost necessary. The screws are long and there are a lot of them. The device is disassembled into the smallest parts. You collect 5 boxes of boards. 6) There is a tipping warning sticker on the back (see picture) which indicates the use of the intended tipping limiter. It wasn't, and nothing in the instructions indicates that. All in all, now that it's finished, it looks great under my desk and will provide me with plenty of storage space. It was very necessary.
