It has been 5 years since I bought a digital camera. After WEEKS of research and LOTS of looking at reviews, specs etc, I've narrowed down my choice between this and the Canon PowerShot Pro Series S3 IS. First let me say that at this price point you can't beat this camera. If you want a SUPER cool REAL professional quality camera, then you MUST have an $800+ DSLR. However, THIS camera is pretty close. My ONLY disappointment is that cameras of this level still don't produce pristine, crystal clear images but as I said if you want PERFECT you need to get a SLR. As for the choice between this and the Canon PowerShot Pro Series S3. The decisive factor for me was the price. I didn't see a big difference in quality. Maybe Canon is a little better, but not enough in my opinion to make me pay almost $100 more. This camera comes with a VERY well-respected lens and famous brand. The simple function and point-and-shoot settings are amazing and make for great photos. When shooting at night, like any other camera, it matters. If you want it perfect, use a tripod. The battery life is very good and the recording speed is exceptional, as is the zoom and high pixel count. Another great feature is that you can buy multiple interchangeable lenses. This camera NOW comes with an adapter and lens hood! Great offer! In fact, if you have less than $300 to spend and want a really good, quality camera and not just a basic pocket camera, DEFINITELY buy this camera! Hope that helps.
