I thought I would like this backpack for my daughter, but it was too much. It's very tight. As a 5th grade student, she has to carry a chrome book, binder, music books and lunch every day. These items are the ONLY fit. As a 5th grader living in Minnesota, she also needs winter pants, boots, etc. When winter came, she actually had to bring a 2nd bag to school every day because that backpack didn't expand. I felt so bad that she was carrying 2 bags and a musical instrument that I was actually relieved when the center zip broke (after 3 months of use) and I felt entitled to buy her a new backpack. We have four school age children in the house and this is the worst backpack ever. But it's cute with fun pockets if you want a backpack.
