While I like the look of the napkin holder, the metal cutouts tend to grab paper napkins and rip them. I compensated by removing some of the napkins and that fixed the situation. My other complaint is that it doesn't last as long as I expected so I'll refill it frequently because of that and the tearing issue. My suggestion would be to have an acrylic backing opposite the napkins, but that would no doubt increase the price and I knew it didn't have that feature. However, the design is cute, so I'm willing to adapt.
