I admit I was tempted to buy this and even now I find it a bit pricey, but I'm a very stingy person. We used to have a very cheap timer for our outdoor patio lighting. , but reprogramming with the changing of the seasons was painful. Also, my mom often fell asleep on the couch because she didn't want the patio lights to come on, but there was no other easy way to turn them off than to turn them off. We needed an update. thought that wouldn't work for us. Luckily, installing the smart outdoor outlet turned out to be a lot easier than installing the other device I was trying to set up. Thank you Meros for that. Serious. We set a timer for the lights to come on at sunset and go out at dawn. The app requires location data, so I hope we never have to manually set a timer for it again. Integration with Google Home was also very easy, giving us the on/off option we were missing before. However, I encountered a problem. For some reason, one of our plugs didn't fit into one of our outside outlets. Not exactly sure why, but there seems to have been a problem with our grounding plug. The other outlet worked with no issues, but this plug is the top plug, making it a little less than ideal as it keeps the bottom plug cover open and open. I'll probably buy a new outlet cover to fix this problem. Far from ideal, but I like the product enough to spend an extra $10 on an outlet cover. Update: Deducting a star because I often had to go outside and turn it off to reset it. I tell my Google Home to turn the patio on/off and I get the response that the plug is unavailable. Reset and it works. I may need to hook this thing up to our old manual timer so it resets itself daily.
