It came already charged so was ready to use. However, I still recommend charging it fully soon afterward. I used it to clean our porcelain sink and afterwards it sparkled and shone. I am currently using it to clean our sliding shower doors which have really accumulated a lot of water and soap scum stains. A brush alone won't do the magic, nor will a cleaning solution alone. This brush and cleaning solution is required for best results. After I'm done, our shower doors finally look clean and clear! I didn't have any other more natural cleaners at home so I just used Dawn Powerwash Spray, left it on the glass for half an hour, then used a brush - and magic! Now all I have to do is invest in a mop and use both weekly. This device will help you "drain" so you don't have to use all that force and tire yourself out. This is great for cleaning a variety of surfaces and items such as the stove, sink, bathtub, glass, etc. Just make sure you're cleaning a surface that won't be scratched or too valuable to be scratched. The bristles can be a little rough, so don't do this on brittle or easily scratched surfaces. The best part is the rechargeable aspect - no need to fiddle with batteries to replace, just plug in and charge! I know there are many but I chose this one because I prefer a short handle. I usually use this on a near surface (stove, sink, etc) so I don't need long handles. I am happy with this product, the motor works great, it really makes cleaning the house that little bit easier.
