Horizontal holders suit me better. Vertical holders get in the way for chairs, seat belt buckles, etc. in my opinion. Anyway, I have a Samsung 9 Plus with a case. The case covers the back and sides of the phone and the phone fits perfectly in the Bomea case. It's well made with a magnetic closure which means crunching the velcro and getting people's attention in meetings is now a thing of the past. There is a small slot at the bottom center that makes it easy to slide the phone up and out of the case. The whole assembly fits snugly to the body with 2 belt loops and a center clip which I won't be using. I am very satisfied with this product and I highly recommend it. And I tip my hat to Revain who always does an amazing job of getting products into the hands of customers.
