Review on Aveeno Baby Daily Moisture Body Lotion: Delicate Skin Care with Natural Colloidal Oatmeal, Hypoallergenic & Fragrance-Free - 18 fl. oz by Joe Pettigrew

Bought and have been using this lotion for my newborn baby since last year. I was a bit concerned about using a lotion or a natural carrier oil. But I decided to try this lotion. The ingredients for this lotion are few compared to other baby lotions on the market. The ingredients are almost the same as in the regular green Aveeno bottle, except that the kid's version contains allantoin. Allantoin helps to soothe and moisturize our skin, not only for children's skin but also for adult skin. It uses sodium benzoate as a preservative. Lotions need preservatives to keep them in good condition. But for me as a new parent, that's a bit of a concern, but still, sodium benzoate can easily be found in the product's ingredients. It's even used in Pampers wet wipes. The petroleum jelly in this lotion also contributes to a moisturizing effect. Vaseline is one of the main ingredients in Aquaphor and Vaseline. The packaging has changed recently but I think it was just the label and the color of the pump. With a bottle, everything still looks the same. The pump tends to fail at some point when the lotion is almost done. My child had eczema when she was a newborn. I used Aquaphor, it was too thick and clogged the skin. When she had very bad eczema I applied this lotion 2 times a day. When it got better I applied it once a day. And now I only apply it after her shower to keep her skin hydrated. It probably also depends on your child's skin, but my child is now free of eczema. I use the lotion for myself and I love it. There are many different brands of baby lotion but for the price and size it will still be our choice when we need to buy lotion. Minus one star for the pump and preservatives. There are many better preservatives that can be used in this lotion, especially when it's labeled for children.
