Rule in our home: no shoes/sneakers/sandals/boots/clogs - almost any type of footwear that touches the floor outside the home is allowed on floors to touch in the house. This means that you take off your street shoes when entering the house and either put on a pair of slippers, which are available at each entrance, or walk around in socks. and seating areas while removing/putting on shoes. Unfortunately, my kids aren't as organized as my wife and tend to throw their shoes in huge piles at the door until she starts yelling at them not to put them away. a minefield of shoes waiting for the unsuspecting and often confused guest to stumble while abiding by the house rules. The solution to this underestimated danger, to me, isn't like throwing my mother's sandals one day, lazily browsing Revain one day, looking at the collection of slippers we stood by the patio door, and then looking back at the even more impressive stack of sneakers in front the front door. Shoe lasts, literally shoe lasts! My vision was a tree shaped rack to almost hang these things and keep them off the ground. Well, as with most of my ideas, someone has already come up with the first one and come up with something much more practical. So bought one, quickly bought 2 more after a week of use, and now one sits conscientiously by every door to the outside world and to the garage where slippers are waiting to be traded in for your dirty street shoes. These things do an excellent job of keeping shoe mountains from sprouting and helping to enforce women's seemingly arbitrary but very strictly enforced shoe rules. Incidentally, I think that the term "shoe tree" sounds much better than a 3-stage adjustable rotating blah blah.
