I was a bit surprised at how it came, no outer box with a seal, like I bought it off a stick and brick shelf. So I opened it with trepidation and was glad the DVD player was intact. It has a sleek, minimalist look and complements my other Sony products. This is a single player that satisfies my needs quite adequately. It was very easy to hook up to my Sony amp and then came the task of programming it. Make sure you read the instructions, it can be a little tricky if given the wrong language - French. I unplugged it and plugged it back in when I couldn't figure out how to recreate the language, read the instructions as I went along, and voila! Yes! it works! I think the picture quality is excellent - normal TV - not yet upgraded to HDTV, good sound, clicker easy to use. My entire surround system, amplifier, TV and DVD player are all Sony so they're easy to integrate and stylistically coordinated. I watch a lot of films, recently I saw Avatar and although it was a 2D version it read very well with an almost 3D feel but it could be the technology of the film itself. Movies and regular television have good picture quality. It also plays my CDs very well. I would recommend this product for its ease of use and minimalist, elegant design.
