The tray locking mechanism is simply a piece of plastic that flexes to release the locking plate. The latch that holds the pin in the latch is a protrusion in the bottom of this plastic latch. The latch on one of my trays was almost flat making it impossible to hold the bar in the closed position. Exchange was not possible (only return), so I repaired the retainer myself with thermoplastic. If it comes loose again, I'll probably have to 3D print a new ABS latch. When I do I will update this review with a link to the Thingiverse model.
