Not sure what I received but it was hard, thick plastic, thick enough not to bend and just thick enough to fit perfectly with the steel bezel on the center console. I was afraid it would be too thick for a steel edge but it's perfect. The hardest part is that when removing the cover from the double sided tape, I accidentally ripped the tape off the back panel and it hurt to put it back on. The tape is rubber, so it is difficult to stick and difficult to peel off. I ended up using a small toothpick to hold it back while I peeled my fingers off. When I finally got it aligned and glued to the OEM, I wasn't happy with the first try at the center piece (I didn't like the uneven gap I left with the top and bottom pieces), so I just ripped it off with mine Fingers, which was painless, and pressed back down. Didn't leave any marks on the OEM when I took it off and leveled it. Matte black - looks great overall and the armrest leather fits perfectly!
