Do not heat the lid in the microwave.
They're cheap enough that instead of bothering friends, family, co-workers and neighbors to return the containers, I just keep buying more. They are strong enough so that the lid will not come off and will not explode and leak if dropped. Never microwave lids, grease or "hot spots" of food in a bowl in the microwave, and if you microwave red/dark frozen foods, they will leave the [tomato] bowl of food forever.
