Update: The Edge lighting features only lasted 10 months of daily use before becoming too dim to visibly glow in color. I'm not sure how long the RGB lighting on these mouse pads typically lasts, so I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. The mat itself is still solid with no cracks, peeling, and none of the edges falling apart or anything like that. First tip: It's big enough to fit in the area where my keyboard and mouse will be used, and it leaves some extra space. I love that you can just plug it in and use it without any additional software. As soon as I took it out of the box the mat on my desk completely flattened out, so I'm not sure why others say it takes time to straighten out. There are many different static color options and several different moving rainbow patterns to choose from just by pressing the side button. The corners of the pad are slightly lighter/lighter than the sides, which can sometimes make them look like a different color accented on the base. I actually like that it looks like two colors because it gives it a more interesting look. However, some people want their pads to be a solid, uniform version of a color, and with this rug, you only get that with certain colors. The surface of the mat is very smooth and doesn't stick at all. I think the edge stitching isn't as rough as people claim. I'm sensitive to pressure and texture, and I have no problem resting my fat hands on the edges for several hours a day. The mat is very easy to clean, just don't immerse it in water. If anything gets on it, simply wipe it off with a damp cloth. If anything gets into the seam area, simply wait for any wet stains (like gravy, etc.) to dry completely and use a dry toothbrush or dry dishwashing brush with closely spaced bristles to brush dried stain particles out of the seam. You can do this with a wet brush or wipe with a damp cloth, but I think the dry method is much easier. I wouldn't use chemicals when cleaning unless it's safe for the fabric used for the upholstery (I used Dawn dish soap and it worked great). One of the rainbow features moves too fast and appears to flicker slowly with very few colors instead of circling around the pad (not sure if this is the intended pattern they contain?). Although other rainbow functions work fine. I want the cable connection area to be on top of the pad and a bit closer to the top center so it's out of the way. While it's not such a big deal right now, manufacturers should consider redesigning it. I would not use sharp objects near the seams as the plastic cord wraps around the lightweight tube to keep it in place. So there's a chance the tube will come loose if you're rough enough with the edges that it cuts through threads.
