The monitor looks crisp, looks good and is a nice upgrade from the 19-inch CRT. However, the full resolution is missing. If you set the screen to 1920 x 1080 as advertised, it won't fill the entire screen. there are black stripes. around the whole picture. This basically places the image in a frame around the entire image. So the best I can do is 1680 x 1050. It's not a bad resolution, but the advertised resolution, especially given the size of the monitor up close, would do it better. Also, no sound comes through HDMI. I have also tried an analog audio cable with HDMI video and that didn't work either. I haven't tested if my computer sends audio over HDMI as I haven't. I could have tried the included DVI cable with analog audio as well , but I haven't tried that yet. I also searched the ASUS website for the driver to no avail. I figured a better driver might fix the full resolution issue. broken I didn't have time to sit with tech support to see if they had any solutions. There was also a dead pixel on the screen. I've only noticed it once, I think during boot up, so it's really not a problem, but it's there. The price is cheap, the display looks good, but it's not exactly as advertised Update 10/27/11. I didn't try resetting the HDMI connection as some have commented as I was using DVI as my graphics card offers both. The monitor died just before the warranty expired. I called ASUS and they made an upgraded replacement for their money. I think it took two days to get here - impressive. There are no dead pixels on the new screen, it works fine. One odd thing was that their replacement had a 3" diameter sticker on the stand that would have taken a lot of elbow grease to remove - soaking, oil, dish soap etc. I just kept my old stand and returned it. The problem is solved. Contact ASUS and try to get a driver for this monitor as I had other problems with video playing properly. Probably due to a codec/windows update, doubt the monitor is to blame. However, ASUS has confirmed that they do not have a specific driver for this monitor, as they say it is plug and play. Their website didn't work properly for me to go to the downloads via the support page - there was a bug that as far as I can remember didn't allow me to select an operating system. Fan of ASUS as they make great products at a very low price. I have their laptop which I would say is head and shoulders above the HP/Compaq quality I had previously (which had a few issues). Some glitches, given their advanced exchange and cheap entry point, I would consider buying this monitor back.
