I originally ordered this belt with a plastic buckle and it was awful, the belt buckle wouldn't close and worse it came off the belt completely. The gum was good, but that's all. I returned it and now I have a folding buckle belt and it's MUCH BETTER. Stays closed, doesn't slip off the belt and I love the elastic, it's good, strong and stretchy enough to get the job I need to do while still being comfortable. I gave 4 stars because I wish there was some way to shorten it. the end is too long. At least I wish it had a tether to attach the very long end where it goes halfway around my waist. Other than that I'm very happy with this navy blue belt and will be working on figuring out how to shorten it without damaging it. I will probably order it again in khaki and army green with the same deployment clasp. Update: After inspecting the end of the strap, it may be possible to undo the metal clip on the end, ENOUGH to take the end of the strap. a belt from it, trim it, singe it with a lighter to mend the roughness or scuffs from cutting, and then put the clip back on the end and pinch with pliers at the end of the belt - lay a washcloth on the clip Use pliers to protect it from scratches - everything is done with enough care to keep the clip in good new condition with no scratches. I'll update again once I try this with pix.
