Hammer toe through big bone

My bunion has deteriorated over the years causing a hammer toe. When I'm not wearing these correctors, my thumb even crosses my hammer toe. Most bursitis correctors widen the toes, which really hurts after a while and causes the hammer toe to pop out even more. I have purchased different types of big toe orthotics over the past two years and this is the only type that fits both. It may not be ideal, but lowering the hammer toe prevents the bursitis from crossing underneath. I've tried gel and sock supports and they all hurt after a while. The splint corrector is really hard to position properly so I didn't bother finding one. Applying this type of concealer has become a natural part of my routine: in the morning before wearing. I take it off at night because the elastic on my hammer toe needs to be tight enough to keep my finger pulled down, and at the end of the day I see a ridge and worry it might restrict blood flow a bit. But now I've found my foot to be uncomfortable at night without them and I'm looking for something softer to wear at night. I guess I give my toes a break in the evening and then wear this corrector again at night. I really feel more comfortable with the corrector now than without it. I wear it for a few days and then throw it in the washing machine (cold or warm). Then I air dry. I can reuse multiple times. I only throw away when I find that the elastic has loosened and instead of holding the toe down, it loosens up and no longer pulls down. This corrector works under all types of shoes. With classic sandals, I make a choice: wear them and see the corrector peek out a little from under my toes, or leave them without them and see my thumb and second toe fully crossed.

Pros
  • EASILY FITS INTO SHOES: Ergonomic toe post slips on easily with socks and most shoe styles. The toe straightener can be worn throughout the day for pain relief.
Cons
  • Hard to say
