I'm used to Merrill's minimalist trail running shoes and they make me feel like Frankenstein. To me they are more of a lightweight hiking shoe than a trail running shoe. Even after a few trips I still get blisters. However, if you step hard on a small rock or accidentally kick a rock, I'm used to hitting the pain, bruising and bruised toes when using Merrills, nonetheless these shoes protect your toes and soles very well. Overall I would say there are pros and cons to these shoes, I will keep them for hiking but will also buy a pair of proper running shoes.
