There is nothing wrong with the tie itself.

I bought my son and husband as a couple for Easter. He liked the idea and the color but my husband said it was too tight to wear. My 12 year old son wore it with pride (although it was too long for him and was peeking out from under his jacket. :) He will grow into it.
