Review on Crampons Traction Anti Rust Protect Walking by Michael Barry

Design flaw causing snow to stick

I was just walking through the snow on Sky Mountain. These cleats definitely help with traction and due to the large contact area, the cleats don't create pressure points underfoot. But as another reviewer mentioned, the spikes cling to dirt and wood chips, and when I'm in the snow there's a layer of snow under my feet. I have to constantly tap my feet with sticks to dislodge a 2-3 inch high snowball from under my feet. I think the problem is the angle of the steel claw. All claws go straight down and this keeps the snow between the claws. But if the claws rotate a little, the snow is released more easily.
