Don't waste your time. It costs a lot more than what you save at this POS!

I waited too long to install, it's my fault. Bought two of these in October to install a tilt motor on my boat. BOTH are dead instantly, no continuity on the small terminals. Bring back one of the American 50 year olds to test and it still works. I wish I could get my money back on this chinesium.

Pictures deceive!

I bought this item thinking it would be an upgrade on my part. I was looking for a piece that was encased in metal for durability when I found a dull red plastic piece that doesn't look like the picture at all. The picture provided by the seller clearly shows that it is a shiny reflective part. All I have is a matte pink plastic piece that looks uglier than black ๐Ÿ’

Case a little thinner but works

Product worked as advertised on my 86 Evinrude 2-Stroke 150hp. The boat is a work boat that calls Lake Georgia daily so the starter solenoid is checked about 15-20 times a day. The only complaint is the overall thickness. The diameter is slightly smaller than the OEM so I had to make a 5mm ring to fit between the solenoid and the strap that holds it to the engine block. A fire retardant gasket is a good choice if you need to do the same. Also not that it matters but my solenoid arrived red notโ€ฆ

Works great if you know how to connect it.

I see bad reviews about it being ready to use and lacking continuity with small terminals. It should be so. This solenoid is grounded through the mounting base. To the small S terminal, connect the positive wire from the key. That's all you need to activate the solenoid. The other small terminal is the positive lead from the main terminals. Its purpose is to turn on an indicator light letting you know the solenoid has activated. Broken cases or missing hardware are one thing, but at least knowโ€ฆ

The negative coil connection is via the mounting base rather than one of the smaller terminals.

Works well. The product was similar to the stock Ford solenoids and is what I needed for my project. One clamp is connected to the battery, one clamp is connected to the starter, a smaller clamp is connected to the positive of the starter switch, the remaining smaller clamp is connected to the ignition resistor bypass if you have one (I don't have one). Note that the negative pole of the solenoid is routed through the mounting base and grounded to the frame or metal junction box. I've used itโ€ฆ
