Unreliable - severe breakage!

The device ran for about 2 1/2 years before the USB 3.0 port stopped working. After a few weeks, all USB devices served by the host laptop and all USB ports on the laptop stopped working; At the same time, the message "The USB ports have been disabled because the USB device draws more current than the computer can supply" appeared on the computer screen. Great hub and lots of ports, but layout needs some work

I've had it for a few months now and so far it seems very reliable and durable. I ended up buying a new USB 3.0 cable to connect to my computer simply because the cable that came with it wasn't long enough for my application. My only criticism (the reason I couldn't get 5 stars) is the layout. . First, I would have preferred a device with a couple of ports on the top for easily plugging and unplugging USB drives. I bought this to replace a Monoprice dual top USB hub and I miss it so much. Don't

UPDATE: Died 11 months later. Then risen!

UPDATE 2 - It's been a few months since my last update and it still works great. From time to time my USB ports stop working and I unplug the power cord and cable from the computer as mentioned below and when I plug everything back in everything works fine. Upgraded to 5 stars as it works the way I hoped it would. UPDATE --- I unplugged all cables from the device and let it sit. After I plugged everything back in, it works again. 10 PORT HUB FOR MAC PRO CYLINDRICAL COMPUTER

Update: Downgraded my original 5 stars to 2. I've been using this 10 port USB3 hub for over a year now. This is an active model with a large wall power supply. I've used it with powered USB3 hard drive enclosures. The hub has a habit of disconnecting drives periodically, I'm going to work and all of a sudden my operating system is telling me that my backup drive and data disk aren't powered off properly. I moved three of my drives into a Thunderbolt enclosure to remove the devices from the hub.

Purchased on September 14, 2015. About 5 years have passed.
