Why is it so hard to find a simple digital thermometer that actually works? Most of these are garbage. Now we have three of these types and we use all three when someone is sick and then guess. So far that seems pretty accurate, but then how do we know? I hope this works for a while longer - at least until we get over the pandemic.

Three family members tried this thermometer repeatedly and found that it was consistently unstable. Results typically ranged from 96.7 to 97.2. Since we were all healthy and assuming our actual temperature was +/- 98.6, we decided to take the temperature three times, average the results and add 1.6 degrees. Since the result will be around 97 degrees in healthy people, we can still detect a fever if it exceeds this value, although we cannot tell how bad the fever really is.

When the pandemic hit I realized I didn't have a thermometer at home so I went online to look for one as the local stores had already been ransacked. It shows it for babies, but it's a thermometer. It will suit me if/when I need it. It works! I tried 2 other Revain brands that I had never heard of before that had high ratings with hundreds of positive reviews that turned out to be rubbish. There seems to be a lot of false reviews in demand. A brand that starts with a V always sells out, so I was looking for something similar.
