💻 Anker PowerExpand Direct 8-in-2 USB C Hub for MacBook with Thunderbolt 3, 4K HDMI, USB C/A Ports, SD/microSD Reader, Lightning Audio Review

Anker USB C Hub looks great and is very functional. I really like that it connects directly to my Macbook and not through a cable. My only complaint is that it doesn't fit snugly and there is a tiny gap between the hub and the Macbook. This can cause the hub to crook a little, but this mostly happens when I have an HDMI plugged in and the cable is narrow at the side.

I received the unit today. Delivery is very quick and well packaged as always. I'm trying to love this dongle BUT it's draining the battery of my 2020 13" MacBook Pro. It's also HOT. It's so hot that resting my hand on the left center of my MacBook is so uncomfortable. I am Disappointed with Anker as most of their products I have purchased are of high quality.Will be back early next week.

Elegant adapter looks like high quality hardware. Offers great versatility to run multiple actions like HDMI, USB mouse and SD card simultaneously in a slim design. Would buy again if lost or broken. The only thing that bothers me is that it levitates on the side of the Macbook, which seems odd because when you push it down it flexes up and down. Since it's only protected by the top two USB-C inputs, the flexing of the bottom end is noticeable and a concern.

I had questions about this hub that were not answered on the sales page e.g. Answer: yes. Can this hub stream video to my new 4K monitor? Answer yes. Does it help to connect USB microphone and headphones? Answer yes. The only thing it doesn't do is have an old-school headphone jack, which it can hide when plugged into the right side of my MacBook Pro 16".

New Mac OS user, used it with my recently purchased 13" MacBook Pro with M1 processor. The fit and finish are very good and match the gray space perfectly. Adds very little bulk to the side of the laptop. Provides seamless connectivity expansion. The only observation is that it does get warm with more intensive use (e.g. reading micro SD content from my GoPro cameras or running an external monitor). Nothing alarming; just warm compared to the computer. 10/10, definitely recommended

It's nice that this sits flush with the side of the laptop, unlike the dangling adapters from the competition. To my great surprise, however, you cannot connect an external USB-C monitor and a USB-C power adapter to your laptop at the same time. I've tried it and either the monitor or the power supply doesn't show up depending on which ports you're using. It's possible to do HDMI+Power, but considering it has two USB-C ports I would think a different scenario would be supported.

I use my computer to make music and I don't like having many adapters for my interfaces so this adapter makes it much easier to connect my USB accessories . . I love that HDMI is on the back and there's a Lightning connector for wired headphones. All in all it works very well with my current setup and I wish I had had it sooner than buying another adapter. Definitely works as expected and the color goes very well with the space gray MBP. Not sure if this will work with the M1 as I have an Intel

I love the Anker products I need to power my cheap USB-C charging and display -Replace dongle that died after 9 months of use. Decided that one of them would be smooth and beautiful. nope I should have read the fine print more carefully. I have a large desktop monitor at home and at work, and I connect two cables to connect my laptop: a charging cable and a monitor cable. My keyboard and mouse are connected to the monitor, so they all go through a second USB-C. This system is clean and worked…

Thank you Anker for your amazing line of products - however I would like to point out one downside of the USB-C hub - it is not compatible with the new M1 MacBook Pro - the everything else on the hub is working fine. I contacted Anker directly and they sent me a replacement straight away (they have great customer service) - unfortunately Lightning Audio didn't work on that either - but hey the M1 is new to the world so I'm not too upset either. Bad - please make a hub that supports Lightning…
