Not worth the investment for photographers

As my tests showed, the electronics of this product proved to be subpar. While it is compatible with Bowens fixtures, the overall quality of the lighting is lackluster. The only pro I could find is that it's easy to set up. Unfortunately, that's not enough to make up for the lack of brightness and overall quality. Save your money and invest in a better lighting option.

Pros
  • Compatible with Bowens fixtures for easy integration with existing lighting equipment.
Cons
  • Requires specific type of lighting fixtures, limiting versatility for those without Bowens fixtures.

Great product with some caveats

Pretty good and easy to use. Nicely packaged. Comes out moderately quickly and breaks. The magnetic gel holder is one of the reasons I bought it and it has turned out to be fine. It really can't be used with a cosmetic tray insert as both are almost touched. Besides, the magnetic gel holder has holes next to the hinge. As a result, white light escapes from the side, even if the gel is inserted correctly.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • High price

BIG improvement over the original version

I had trouble building the original Light Dome Mini and I'm so glad Aputure updated it. The new version is much easier/quicker to assemble and disassemble. It no longer has those dangerous "thorns" sticking out the front that I was afraid someone would lose an eye from. Also, the new version has a wonderful gel holder. Unlike my full size Light Dome II, the Mini II version only has a diffuser fabric, probably due to the smaller dome size. I recommend the Mini II version for shooting in tight…
