ARB 170112 Differential Breather Kit Review

Generally a good product. Although the hose sucks. I bought this to replace existing carriers on my 07 JKU. Installation was pretty easy. Unfortunately the hoses will melt if they come into contact with anything hot. I had all three lines I used collapsed from the heat so I replaced them with a 5/16 fuel line. Now the system works great.

A must when you're off-road and the axle is deep in the water. There are many videos on Youtube about the benefits of this kit, so I won't go into detail as to why you need it. Yes, you can make your own cheaper by going to your local hardware store, but if you have more money than time and want a quality kit from a well-known brand, this is for you.

This kit was just what I needed to raise the two rear breathers on my 2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser. (Rear differential and electronic lock.) If you're installing this in a similar vehicle, you'll probably want to buy a small set of hose connectors and/or barbed tees. You may be able to save hose by using a tee to join hoses coming from two adjacent bleeders before running long to the bleeder head. This is important when attempting to raise all the vents in the front and rear of the car.

Of course I could go and collect some random parts to save $10 or I could just buy this. It comes with everything you need to bang into a 2016 Tacoma rear diff, my DCLB 4x4 SR5, but it should fit other 3rd Gen Tacomas as well. The factory vent pops right out and the included fitting has the same threads and is easy to install. I routed the hose up the frame to the hood - there are only 4 fittings in the kit and you need to use one to attach the hose to the actual vent so you have two fittings…

Of course it fits every other truck depending on the model but this kit was enough to do both lines on my 18 4runner; rear differential and lock. Came with 32ft tubes (cut in half, 16" for the rear differential and one for the elocer). There are about 2" tubes left. With the steering pump they stretched the lines from the differential and cylinder block to the engine compartment. Perfect fit for my 2019 Toyota 4 Runner. Installation was easy and effortless and the threads matched the threads on my rear differential. The pipe was sufficient for the rear differential and electronic locker, although I had to purchase an extension hose coupler to connect the ARB pipe to the original electronic locker vent pipe. Not a big deal since the local auto shop was selling the package for less than $2. The block and filter were simply mounted high up on the side panel of the engine…
