Arthausen's Storage Canister is a great little jar that can be used just about anywhere. Extremely sturdy, this glazed little newbone china crock is perfect for the kitchen, holding coffee, sugar, tea bags or loose leaf tea, cat food, snacks like cookies or biscuits, or even house your sourdough starter! Or maybe you're looking for a pretty little container for the office, to hold paperclips, thumbtacks? Ideally sized for storing your children's loose crayons. This container is moderately sized, with a 600 mL / 20 fl oz capacity, holding about 2.5 cups. This makes it useful for storing bulk supplies generally purchased in smaller quantities, such as special sugars or dried chilis in the kitchen, or cotton swabs, potpourri, or hair accessories, and similar. For gourmet vinegars, infused oils, or bacon fat, the canister needs to be sterilized before use. These jars come with their own silicone seal, which should last for years to come if properly cared for. Seals are a softer, more flexible silicone, with ridging on the underside to increase gripping. Seals measure about 3.5" in diameter, to accommodate for the canister thickness. If the lid is popping off, the seal may be attached upside down. Take off and reattach the other direction. The bamboo top with silicon seal makes this a particularly good choice for dry goods you want to keep fresh, or limit possible moisture contamination, such as with brown sugars. The lid measures 4" in diameter, and fits flush to the sides of the canister. It is not a lock tight lid, so it is recommended that you grab and carry the canister by the body, rather than the top. This canister lid is not built to withstand the high heat. This is a convenient canister to have around the house. Just pull off the lid, put whatever you want into it, and replace the lid with a gentle push. There are no small parts or choking hazards. It's easy to clean, too! It is dishwasher safe on the top rack. Or, simply wash by hand with hot water and soap. The lid should always be handwashed, and the silicone ring should not be soaked in hot water.
