Description of Astromania 1 25 Moon Skyglow Filter

1.25- inch Moon and Skyglow Filter is Skyglow is a multi-bandpass filter transmitting a high percentage of light in the visual spectrum. The Skyglow filter absorbs more light at longer wavelengths and therefore increases viewing contrast. Reduces Glare and improves definition so you can see the moons features much more clearly. A high quality eyepiece filter for reducing the brightness of the moon and improving contrast and surfacr detail. This can be useful when viewing the sky in areas where there is alot of light pollution.

Disappointing Moon Filter for Astrophotography

As my tests showed, the filter had minimal effect on the quality of my astrophotography. The only positive aspect is that it`s easy to attach to the camera. Unfortunately, the supposed "Skyglow" effect was barely noticeable and did not enhance the overall image quality. Save your money and invest in a higher-quality filter..

Pros
  • Improves visibility of lunar and nebulae details
Cons
  • Filter is only effective for lunar and nebula observation, not planets or stars

The filter itself comes in a very nice Plastic housing which is even better, I compared the filter to my Orion Moon ND filter, both inputs are level and found very few differences. The filter screwed onto my 1.25" eyepieces easily and smoothly. The Orion filter may have filtered out a little more light, but both were
