ASUS VG259QR Gaming Monitor - 1080P, 165Hz, High Definition Review

I would have given this monitor 4 stars if Asus hadn't fooled the market by calling it Gsynch "compatibility ready". This monitor is not certified for gsynch and while gsynch works, there are some issues and it needs to be connected to displayport to work properly. I wouldn't have bought this monitor if I'd realized at the time that Asus is using a pun to fool people into thinking it's a certified gsynch when it wasn't.

I've lived with Asus hardware for almost 20+ years but now I've ordered this monitor 3 times and each time got dead pixels and refunded to Amazon. I had to buy again after the 1st exchange as Amazon will no longer make less than 1 replacement in any given order. I had high hopes for this third monitor. Third charm, right? Not correct. If ghosting bothers you, don't buy this monitor. Ghosting is when an image artifact appears as a trail of pixels or incidentally ghosts behind fast-moving objects. Picture quality is pretty good, colors are ok. It didn't matter though, as the ghosting was so bad that it would appear with every sudden move I made in the game. I recently bought this monitor (specs: ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QR 24.5 inch 165Hz IPS panel) and used it as a secondary monitor which I use in portrait mode. I've attached two pictures showing my setup, with the monitor on the left (portrait orientation). No ghosting, 144Hz/g-sync works as it should, text isn't blurry. Image quality is acceptable after color calibration, which is easy to do thanks to the joystick. This is a really great monitor and well worth the money, but watch out for dead pixels. Mine isn't very problematic, I didn't even notice until the other day when I had something white on the left half of my screen, I saw a black dot and realized it wasn't just a spec on my screen. Poor quality HDMI cable and display port! both cables do not allow the use of G-SYNC. which is clearly stated on the packaging! had to use my own premium displayport cable to enable G-SYNC. Completely unimpressed with the quality of the cables that come with this monitor. I only bought this device because of the G-SYNC compatibility and I'm not impressed at all!

The quality of this monitor was excellent. I can play high quality games with high FPS. Both DP and HDMI ports work fine. Adjustable height moves easily. Definitely want another one for my setup.

Bought this for my brother who is pretty laid back, he only plays COD and maybe a league of legends here and there. He had an old Dell IPS monitor with a 16:10 aspect ratio, huge bezels, and high latency, so this upgrade was night and day for him. I made sure to get this one as it has GSync and its PC only has a GTX 1050TI so it helps with lower FPS. Anything above 60Hz.

Apparently this monitor was previously opened/used due to an incorrect overwrite. I bought this as a Christmas present for one of my grandkids so I'm going to give it to him and let him decide if he wants to keep it or return it. I'm honestly disappointed that the seller sold this 'new' device.

This is a really good monitor. I've had it for 3 or 4 months now and no problems so far. Delivery was quick which was good. The box didn't look damaged or anything inside looked damaged, so that was a plus.

The colors on this monitor are really not very good! Blacks are smudged and there is no way to fix it. If you play the game with dark colors, blurring the dark colors will make you don't want to use it. The refresh rate is very good but I would spend the extra money for a monitor with better picture quality! Seriously, this is a disappointment!
