Renewed AT&T CL2909 Corded Phone 📞 - Speakerphone, Caller ID/Call Waiting - White Review

Does exactly what I need but was very disappointed to find that batteries are required for speaker function. This should be better explained in the description - in the past I've had regular corded phones with a speaker that didn't require batteries and based on the description I figured batteries were only needed for advanced features like caller ID etc.

No sound on handset. If I wanted to answer or make a call, I had to use the speakerphone. And what's the problem with AT&T phones if they don't hang up completely? I've had three and all of them end the call and you either get this instant call back from the previous call or you stand there doing morse code and hitting a key a million times to get a dial tone. This phone replaced an identical (10 year old) machine in my kitchen that had a static problem that other phones in the house didn't have. During the replacement process, I found electrical corrosion in a DSL filter attached to a modular wall outlet that also doubled as a phone mounting plate.
