I really liked it when I received it for the first time. Then I decided to throw away the plastic wrap that covered the gel when it was packaged. I pulled it out after a week and it's a hard rubber ball. The needle bounces right off him. waste of money.

I had to return this product even though it was a good price. The reason for this is that the "stickiness" of the gel is such that it sticks to the pen much longer than other products of this type. This results in a significant vertical displacement of the cantilever, which over time can lead to it the suspension is loaded or loosened. For me it wasn't worth the risk given my very expensive MC cartridge.

This pen cleaning gel is great! Yes, my needles get dirty, that's what happens when I digitize 400+ data sets ranging in age from 30 to 60 years. Oh, those scratchy records, some will say. Styles (needles) playing any album, new or old, can collect dust. With just one, two or three swipes of this cleansing gel, the tip is clean. Using a gel pad eliminates most of the cleaning, preventing unwanted wear and tear and potential damage. The gel pad is also easy to clean. I recommend its use.

I didn't use either one until last week and thought it was just a gimmick to get vinyl lovers to spend money on 'essential' items. I was completely wrong. It's very easy to use and I've been VERY surprised at how much my needle has required this suction cup so far. I pride myself on keeping my scrapbooks clean, my collection organized and lint free, but this has taken things to a whole new level. Even playback sounds better after using it. Take the stylus, dip it straight into the goo and lift it up and it will keep the dirt in the goo and won't leave a mark on the stylus. The instructions say to be careful to run the needle straight down and straight up, and I do it carefully. The photo shows the places I did it and it captures all the dirt on the needle very well. Better or worse than just using a brush on a needle I really don't know, but it's a fun alternative and makes a lovely gift. I like it. I give him 5 stars.

This is a beautiful product and very nicely packaged. I wish it actually worked, but honestly there's no way to tell the difference. The first time I used it, I could have sworn I noticed a degradation in the player's sound.
