Little 5 year old loves to always wear dresses (kindergarten and camp) so these very thin lightweight shorts fit perfectly under dresses especially in the summer and offer modest protection when she in her clothes plays with boys and girls on the playground and outdoor activities in the classroom.

If you need heavy shorts these are not for you. However, they are PERFECT for my 3 year old. She wears them under dresses and in her age without worrying too much about the fact that her underwear is a bit see through but so are the dress covers. It's easy for her to put the material on when she goes to the bathroom, unlike other shorts that are too stiff for her to maneuver on her own. Very soft, stretchy and relatively light. My daughter prefers these shorts over traditional lingerie/briefs because they don't ride up, bunch up or irritate her with bulky seams. But – if you're looking for underpants or mid-weight dance shorts with structure (ie thicker, tight-fitting leotards or cycling shorts) this may not be the best choice. This is a more breathable lightweight long underwear (IMO). Perfect for our needs.

These shorts fit well but the material is very thin and see through. I bought them for dresses and skirts so I don't care that they are so thin because you don't usually see them. They fit my 4.5 year old daughter quite loosely so she can wear them for a while before the thin material wears out too quickly.
