Delicious hot and cold!

I bought a Kathmandu curry (and other freeze dried dishes) expecting to eat 1 can of food a night. I didn't expect hiking days to satisfy my appetite so much, so I often just ate half a bag for dinner (hot), sealed it, and put it in my bear bag to hang on a tree. , then decided to eat the rest of the food for breakfast (cold). Cold Kathmandu curry after coffee? I doubt it, but it's still delicious!

Good quality and good taste

Good curry taste, mild to medium hot. Cooked just above sea level and fully hydrated by the time stated. It was like a 24 ounce thick soup on the pack, I'll try less on the next one. And the amount was a good portion size. If you split it into 2 portions, I would serve it with good bread or another main course or side dish from the backpackers' pantry. This batch expires in 2025. I have a few that only have about a year left on them.

Good trail food

It has a mild spicy flavor, higher calorie count to pack backpacking miles. You need to mix well as the spices are usually at the bottom. If this is not done, the top will be bland and the bottom almost inedible, spicy and salty. It may take a little longer to soak the rice for it to soften. If you like curry this is a good option. I'm not a vegetarian, but I prefer vegan freeze-dried options because the meat in many of these dishes can be superficial.

I really liked it; In the past, most of my freeze dried meals "on the trail" were pretty standard stuff like gravy cookies, beef stroganoff, alfredo chicken. I really liked eating something different, more like what I eat at home (I eat a lot of curries and other Indian dishes as well as dishes from different Asian countries). The lentils made it quite filling. I myself ate both portions at once because I needed calories after the hike, but I could definitely share that with someone if we alsoโ€ฆ
